The Raychem Corporation acquired by Tyco Electronics in 2000 pioneered the development of heat-shrinkable products.

Raychem were responsible for the creation of new types of improved plastics and elastomeric materials which possess unique properties through modification of the raw material by the application of radiation technology. These raw materials are engendered with characterists which go far and beyond the normal physical limits of untreated plastics.  These changes are achieved by subjecting the base plastics and elastomers to high energy electron beam radiation.

This technology was originally developed in the 50’s since then these 3 basic product categories have been refined, enhanced and developed.
